Kalki 2898 AD is an upcoming Indian sci-fi fantasy film directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Aswani Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies. Starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani, the film began filming in July 2021 at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. The film, originally named Project K, experienced a one-year delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, it holds the title of the most expensive Indian film ever made with a staggering budget of ₹600 crore (US$75 million). Santhosh Narayanan composed the music, Djordje Stojiljkovic handled cinematography, and Nitin Zihani Choudhary managed production design. “Kalki 2898 AD” is set to hit cinemas on May 9, 2024.

Film’s First Look Backlash
On July 19, 2023, the initial release of the film’s first look garnered a negative response, leading the makers to delete it from their social media handles. After implementing modifications, the makers uploaded a revised version that also received criticism. Furthermore, they officially revealed the new title for the film at the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con, where director Nag Ashwin, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and producer C. Aswani Dutt presented the teaser trailer.
Star-Studded Ensemble Join Prabhas in Telugu Blockbuster Debut
In July 2020, Deepika Padukone signed on to star alongside Prabhas in the film, marking her Telugu cinema debut. The director, Nag Ashwin, teased a unique and surprising role for her. Later, Amitabh Bachchan joined with a significant role, his first full-length one in a Telugu film. Additionally, Disha Patani returning to Telugu cinema after 2015, and Kamal Haasan making a comeback after 2015, joined the cast in May 2022 and June 2023, respectively.
