Amaran: Following criticisms in Sivakarthikeyan’s Film.

Rajkumar Periyasamy directs and writes the film Amaran, starring Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, and more. However, the movie is a collaborative production between Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan and R Mahendran. Notably, Netflix has also secured the streaming rights for the film, as recently revealed.

The teaser of the Sivakarthikeyan – starrer Amaran, bankrolled by actor Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International and Sony Pictures Films India, was released a few days ago. Sivakarthikeyan will portray Major Mukund Varadarajan in the film, alongside Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, and others. Major Varadarajan from the 44th Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles (22 Rajput) was posthumously honoured with the Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime gallantry award. He sacrificed his life while leading an anti-terrorist operation in a village in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir, in April 2014. Sivakarthikeyan is all set to play the role of Major Varadarajan.

In January 2022, the production officially announced the film under the tentative title #SK21, marking Sivakarthikeyan’s 21st lead role. In February 2024, they later revealed the official title.

On Threads, Director Rajkumar explained the film’s title, stating “Amaran” in the screenplay signifies Immortal, Warrior, and Godly. Moreover, the Sivakarthikeyan project shares its title with a 1992 action gangster film starring Karthik, directed and produced by K Rajeshwar.

Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International is bankrolling the film. Sai Pallavi plays the female lead in Amaran, marking her first collaboration with Sivakarthikeyan. Amaran has music by GV Prakash . Ch Sai will handle the cinematography, whereas R Kalaivanan will serve as the editor for the film.

TMJK members across Tamil Nadu protested on Wednesday against the unreleased film ‘Amaran,’ which claimed it portrayed Muslims in Kashmir as terrorists. Demonstrations in Tirunelveli, Tiruchirapalli, Tiruppur, Vellore, Cuddalore, and other areas called for a halt to the film’s release, despite no official release date announcement.
